This course provides a high level overview of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industries, commonly referred as AEC. It discusses common operational basics among three submarkets: 1) architecture and engineering, 2) construction, and 3) Real Estate and property management.
The AEC industry is responsible for the design, construction and management of facilities, ranging from small homes to skyscrapers, bridges, and any other facility. Of all the markets in the Service Industries, the AEC market is the most heavily dependent on project management. It is also the most heavily regulated market, primarily due to public safety concerns. Globally, there are over one-million firms dedicated to this market, with the construction industry accounting for almost half of the employees in the Service Industries alone.
The purpose of this overview is to highlight the importance of business applications for the AEC market; to explain how Microsoft approaches these organizations from a business application perspective; and to offer some guidance on how to sell into these markets.
