Charles Petzold on Darwin’s Sacred Cause

Charles Petzold published his first Microsoft Press book in 1988. (His most recent is 3D Programming for Windows.) Poof: 21 years go by, and yesterday Charles posted this great review of a new book on Charles Darwin: Darwin's Sacred Cause: How a Hatred of Slavery Shaped Darwin's Views on Human Evolution (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2009).

Near the end of the review Charles sums up the book with this: “The whole picture that emerges from Darwin's Sacred Cause is a man who is extraordinarily decent and kind and driven to demonstrate the unity of all people of the world in one human race. Very few other scientists of the 19th century come close to Darwin's standards.”
