Hi all, Patty Gardner here, Content Development Group Manager for Microsoft Press. I’m very proud to present this year’s STC (Society for Technical Communication) Award winners. The STC is an international organization of technical communicators whose purpose is to foster quality in print and online technical publications. Our competitors at the local level include Microsoft UA teams and organizations like Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, and King County.
This year Microsoft Press entered five books in the Technical Publications category of the 2009 STC Competition - Puget Sound Chapter. An amazing four of our five entries received awards, including two Distinguished awards, which is STC’s highest level of award!
Our Excellence and Distinguished winners now qualify for entry in the International STC competition.
I want to give a big round of applause to our editorial team, creative team, planners, and authors. The STC judging standards are rigorous and these books reflect the best in the technical communication community.
At this page the title of IT Book of the Year 2009 for my little italian developers community:
The book "Microsoft Visual Studio Tips: 251 Ways to Improve your Productivity" shows up as unavailable when I click through the link on the writer's bio. However Amazon shows it as available in-stock at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735626405/sr=1-1/qid=1156801743/ref=sr_1_1/104-6313703-3867159?ie=UTF8&s=books
The Communications Server Resource Kit project team was notified today that Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Resource Kit earned the STC "Best of Show" award at last night's award ceremony. The book now goes on to the international competition. The team of 22 authors, 4 editors, 2 project editors, 2 technical reviewers, dozens of product team reviewers, project manager, and cross-team sponsors are elated. We just set sail on the next version of the Resource Kit, which promises to be even better than the last. What a way to launch the next book! :-)
