About the Authors
Mitch Tulloch is a widely recognized expert on Windows administration and has been awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) status for his contributions supporting those who deploy and use Microsoft platforms, products, and solutions.

  • books only cover the basic what you need to know is all about active directory and the problems that happen 1 2 3 or 4 servers trying to connect to each other, 80% wont be in the book yea found out the hard way...

  • Thats what you buy the second and third book for!

Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 R2 Services

    and

    Administering Windows Server 2012 R2

  • I'll bet those books don't cover everything either!

  • this is why we have labs.  of course the books won't cover everything, they can't cover everything.  follow along in a lab and see what happens, document the problems, document the fixes, and then roll it out in production.  this is not a new process.  If you're building a production environment from a beginners' book then yes, you're going to run into problems, probably including a resume generating event.

  • this book was designed for student who are taking MCSA exam 70-410. So the book content is limited.

  • is it just me or does page 50 have an error in it under converting server with a GUI to minimal server interface.

    server-gui-mgmt-infra vs Server-GUI-Shell

  • Tony - You're welcome to add that to our errata for that book. The author will confirm it through the standard errata process. Thanks. Here's the link - To find a listing of reported errata for any of our titles, search for the title in our catalog and then check the Errata & Updates tab. To report errors, please go to our Submit errata page - www.microsoftpressstore.com/.../errata

  • Do purchasers of books have access to the errata? Some authors allow this, and having access for this books amount of errors would be very handy to clear a lot of confusion. I am beginning the last chapter and would like the frustration to end.

  • we are working on gathering errata and posting it on the Microsoft Press Store soon. We do not have it compiled and verified yet by the author.

  • Any update on the errata being published?

There's enough misinformation in Lesson 3 of Chapter 8 alone to make it worthless.

Considering how long it took for the training guides to appear after 2012r2 went RTM there's no excuse for the plethora of errors in this book.

I swear the editors must have been on a bender to allow this "Training Guide" to see the light of day.
