We kick things off with this fantastic piece of news from Microsoft's Imagine Cup!...
KiDnect wins the Imagine Cup!
Inspiring stories are not hard to find when it comes to innovation in technology. But combine that with a heart-warming story and a stroke of genius then you have a truely worthy Grant winner of Microsoft's Imagine Cup!
KiDnect is a Kinect-based solution for on-premise and remote physical therapy for children, especially those born with Cerebral Palsy. This software has the ability to monitor a child’s exercises to ensure they are being completed correctly, and then provides statistical analysis to the therapist. The KiDnect Team are comprised of students Ivan Antonic, Ivan Borko, Karmela Bresan and Dominik Tomicevic who will now continue their project's journey of after the Imagine Cup into a startup business or nonprofit organisation with support from Microsoft.
The Imagine Cup is an annual competition sponsored and hosted by Microsoft. It brings together young technologists worldwide to help resolve some of the world's toughest challenges. For Imagine Cup 2012, you could have chosen to enter three different team competitions - Software Design, Game Design: Xbox/Windows, and Game Design: Phone.

Team Falcon Dev from Ecuador: SkillBoxSkillBox is an affordable solution to help children who are hearing impaired by translating all audio received from a teacher in a classroom into sign language. A wireless headset captures the sound, sends it to the computer and SkillBox then shows the corresponding sign for the word or phrase.Watch their video here.Team OaSys from Jordan: HorizonHorizon is a software and hardware system that allows people who do not have use of their hands/arms to use a computer. Specifically, it tracks head movements and translates these movements into mouse movements.
