Written by Ellyn Foltz. We usually think of a company’s sustainability efforts as being aimed at meeting government regulations (for example REACH) or at saving money.  Evidence also suggests that “being green” will also be enormously helpful in attracting and retaining the next generation workforce as well.  “Generation Y” employees who are just coming into companies fully expect their employers to be on the leading edge of sustainability efforts as part of the “employment deal” they accept when coming to work.  This is a particularly important trend for our customers and colleagues in the process manufacturing industries to note as demographics suggest that a large number of process employees will retire in the next few years.  The need to attract the next generation of great employees is a great reason to raise the profile of sustainability initiatives in all process manufacturing firms.
