    If you are a UK student and have published an app for Windows Phone or Windows 8 we have a Private Facebook group we would like to invite you to join.

    It is invite only and you must let us know the details of your app in the MarketPlace or Store. The group is very active and is a great place to share experiences, ideas, issues and opportunities to work together with other student developers.

    So how do you join?

    Email ukstu@microsoft.com with your publisher ID, a link to your app and we’ll invite you in! Simple

    Get a FREE certification exam

    Exam 70-480: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3, counts as credit toward the following certification(s):

    • MCSD: Web Applications
    • MCSD: Windows Store Apps using HTML5

    Use code : HTMLJMP for a free exam credit, the exam will normally cost £99.

    After passing 70-480, you will be given a certification for Microsoft Specialist and this is one of the three exams which will ultimately certify you as MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer).

    MCSD is one tier above MCSA (Associate) and is a respectable title in the field of web development.

    We are inviting students to complete a short survey to help us better understand how the DreamSpark programme is supporting your skills development, learning outcomes and career potential. We would like to understand what range of applications and tools have been of use to you, how often you use them and how effective they have been in supporting your skills development. Most importantly, we would like to understand how effective access to DreamSpark has been in supporting your coursework and test/exam results.     • Free for all Schools in the system and already setup to provide their students verification solution.
    • This was is through domain, shibboleth, or Live@Edu validation or manual verification!
    • Schools DreamSpark Administrators can request codes and give them to their students

    Changes to licensing and costs

    DreamSpark for Schools, College and Unis subscription is now available and priced at $99 FREE for EES customers – This change allows all DreamSpark software to be installed for teaching and learning on Institutional Lab machines and it’s a campus license as per EES so you only need to purchase 1 license and not 1 per school or faculty and if your a EES subscriber its included for FREE. (also it now covers educators and students for personal non-commercial usage and is available for all taught discipline, previously this only covered students usage and not licensed for intuitional equipment)

    DreamSpark Premium – Previously MSDNAA so includes more products including Visio, OneNote and Project and is aimed at STEM FE and HE institutions and all IT Academy Subscribers. The cost has been reduced to $499 from £1000+ (also it now covers educators and students for personal non-commercial usage and all lab installations)

    Microsoft was started when many of the founders were still students so we know that anything is possible. To make this happen, we are aligning with universities, associations, and other communities around the world to make sure that DreamSpark reaches everyone as fast as possible.

    Solving mobile app payments with Digital Wallet Foundry

    A bit of a different event – a whole week – but its up to you when you attend…..

    As a student you could learn a lot about the mobile apps payment market and meet some smart people – why not pop in one day and see what’s happening – though might be a challenge is you miss Monday Smile

    Digital Wallet Foundry, a three week mix ‘n’ match event program in London starting 18th Feb seeks to focus the Industry on creating propositions that excite and engage, with the primary goal of encouraging the development of wallet applications.

    #DigitalWalletFoundry invites developers, designers, industry leaders and people with a view to take the first steps in solving some of these challenges.

    Digital Wallet Foundry Objectives:
    • Bring diverse and competing parties together to learn
    • Shape consumer propositions through collaboration
    • Introduce entrepreneurs and developers so as to create new businesses.
    • Do things. Network; develop; inspire; share and win

    The #DWF has been designed for *Developers, Designers & Industry Leaders
