&lt;p&gt;I personally think Apple have handled this quite well - it's included in the annual cost of membership in their programme, which isn't high.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It would be beneficial for the Windows Mobile software ecology if Microsoft were to copy that, along with the idea of a centralised App store. But *not* the idiotic ranking system that forces people to price their apps so low they can't make a meaningful profit. This seriously is something you should look at.&lt;/p&gt;
