Ed Sperling from Electronic News follows up on last weeks article "Markets Collide in Embedded OS World" with a second article which compares Microsoft and WinDriver's offerings in the embedded space, this weeks article is titled "Microsoft and WindRiver square off".

Ed examines Wind's move from the telecommunications space into more of a general embedded operating system space and compares how this compares with Microsoft's Windows CE and Windows XP Embedded operating systems.

I had a comment posted to the blog some time back now that suggested that Microsoft adopt more standards, and make our operating systems "play well" with other embedded operating systems, I'm curious to find out more about this - in your opinion, what is Microsoft missing from Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded ?
