Today, Paul Yao, Nick White, Andreas Penna and I took (or toque) a road-trip to Vancouver, Canada – We left Sunny (but cold) Redmond at about 1pm and arrived at the border close to 3pm – everything almost went smoothly, apart from me being singled out to spend some time talking with immigration – this only delayed us by 20 minutes or so, which wasn’t too bad.
We arrived in downtown Vancouver with some time to spare, so grabbed some Italian food before heading for the WE-DIG meeting, and also grabbed a taste of Seattle from the local Starbucks (see the image of Paul Yao and I drinking coffee in Vancouver/Starbucks).
The turnout at the WE-DIG meeting was pretty impressive, with 40 or so people turning up – After a brief introduction I got started with a 30 minute overview of Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded, Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS) and Windows Mobile – 30 minutes really isn’t enough to do these subjects justice, perhaps I need to come back!
Paul Yao was up next talking about the .NET Compact Framework
This was followed by Andreas Penna talking about Competing operating systems.
The meeting closed at about 9:30pm – which means there’s only a 3 or 4 hour drive and the border to deal with before getting back to Redmond, and an 8am meeting to kick off the day…
