One of the biggest announcements coming out of the 'Mix07' web design and developer event in Las Vegas this year was the launch of Silverlight! Aswell as the initial interest generated in Microsoft Expression, Silverlight seems to be THE hot news coming out of Vegas.

It's release marks a flying leap forward for web designers and developers - from the Silverlight website blurb):

"Microsoft® Silverlight™ is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight offers a flexible programming model that supports AJAX, VB, C#, Python, and Ruby, and integrates with existing Web applications. Silverlight supports fast, cost-effective delivery of high-quality video to all major browsers running on the Mac OS or Windows."

It enables anything from basic video streaming to fully interactive, explorable user interface design in your browser. Courtesy of Frank Arrigo's blog, the following links give some idea of the power of Silverlight. In particular, check out the great examples of Silverlight 'experiences' on the Silverlight Home page.
