I have been seeing and receiving several questions in regards to my, “How do I still get SBS 2003 R2 + Software Assurance in October since it was removed from the Volume License pricelists? Final Solution” post, asking if the same exception has been made for acquiring SBS 2003 R2 CALs before December 31st and being able to add Software Assurance to them within 90 days of the Retail or OEM purchase. The answer to the question is, “Yes, you can acquire SBS 2003 R2 CALs via Retail Box or as OEM with your OEM SBS 2003 R2 Server before December 31, 2008 and have 90 days to add Software Assurance to those CALs.”

To make it easier for you, here are the Software Assurance only Part #s (US) that you would add to your OEM or Retail SBS 2003 R2 CALs within 90 days of the Retail or OEM SBS 2003 R2 CALs purchase:

SBS Standard User CAL:

  • Software Assurance 1st year payment (spread payments): Part #: 6UA-01454
  • Software Assurance with 3 years paid up-front: Part #: 6UA-01640

SBS Standard Device CAL:

  • Software Assurance 1st year payment (spread payments): Part #: 6UA-01453
  • Software Assurance with 3 years paid up-front: Part #: 6UA-01639

SBS Premium User CAL:

  • Software Assurance 1st year payment (spread payments): Part #: 6VA-00910
  • Software Assurance with 3 years paid up-front: Part #: 6VA-01096

SBS Premium Device CAL:
