Today marks the 1-year birthday of a product that is stirring up quite a bit of excitement lately, Microsoft Security Essentials. One thing that is really nice is that unlike traditional birthday parties where all of the guests bring gifts to the one celebrating the birthday, in the case Microsoft Security Essentials, it is actually Microsoft Security Essentials (and Microsoft Corporation) providing the gifts to you. For instance, just last week, I posted the announcement that Microsoft Security Essentials will be available FREE to Small Businesses in October, and the excitement over that announcement has been phenomenal. In addition, Microsoft Security Essentials continues to provide the gifts of security and peace of mind to those using it today to get protection from viruses, spyware and other malicious threats at no cost. Besides, how many other one-year olds do you know that are generating worldwide excitement like Microsoft Security Essentials is doing since the announcement last week?
So what else has this one-year old accomplished? In the one year since Microsoft Security Essentials was made generally available to the public, we are pleased to share that there are now over 30 million customers in 74 different countries around the world enjoying the trusted security and quiet protection that Microsoft Security Essentials provides. Now that is a popular one-year old! In addition, we are also thrilled to let you know that HP will be pre-installing Microsoft Security Essentials on the HP ENVY 14 series and the HP ENVY 14 Beats™ edition series PCs beginning today, so be sure to go check these out.
Now what birthday would be complete without a birthday cake? As such, Microsoft Security Essentials is celebrating today in full style with its first year birthday cake all decked out with balloons, stars, lots of frosting (what one year old doesn’t love lots of frosting??), and even a “1” candle to mark this celebration:
I do have to admit, I am a little biased in my opinion on the cake. Reason being, apparently word got out somehow that I’ve been known to make a cake or two, and the other day I received an internal email with the subject line of, “Rumors are that you are a cake master?” Long story short, my services were retained to be the one to make the Microsoft Security Essentials first year birthday cake. (so go ahead, give me your feedback on the design) I will say, it’s been a fun week working with Microsoft Security Essentials, first on the announcement last week and then on the birthday celebration this week.
Anyway, I just wanted to take a quick moment to:
