This is truly an exciting day! You may recall the announcement back on May 10th of Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype. Well just moments ago, the official announcement was made that the Microsoft acquisition of Skype has closed! With this exciting announcement, I thought I’d put up a quick post here to help connect you with the latest information on this.

Interesting, but more useful would be to find out what will Microsoft make out of Skype - I suppose everybody forced to used Lync at the office would be glad to use Skype instead.
Most people value Skype for at least 4 reasons:
- great voice and video quality
- it's decentralized nature (no central server, works fine behind proxies and firewalls)
- cheap calling rates on international phone calls
- works great on smartphones (like Android)
