Walkthroughs for Visual Studio 2005 CTP May 2004 Edition

  • Comments 2

As reported by Rob Caron, we have posted seven walkthroughs for the Visual Studio 2005 Community Technical Preview May 2004 Edition (what a mouthful). The walkthroughs focus on unit testing, web testing, load testing, profiling and code analysis. This is a great way to come up-to-speed on some of the features of the new Visual Studio 2005 Team System (which, as an aside, sounds like it will have some nice reporting capabilities).

  • While playing around with the Visual Studio 2005 Community Technical Preview May 2004 Edition I found that when "testing" the console apps with the "F5 test method", the console window does not receive focus. Either I have messed up my computer or there is just minor bug somewhere. Anyway, while waiting for the beta 1, here's a lame hack for the (possible) not activate / not receive focus / not focus annoyance, just write temporarily before the main method..

    [DllImport("user32.dll")] private static extern bool SetForegroundWindow(IntPtr hWnd);
    static bool forefix=SetForegroundWindow(Process.GetCurrentProcess().MainWindowHandle);

    Could be there is a way to get without dllimport, but I'm a Morton..
  • Well it seems this bug is still around in Beta 1.
