Automated Continuous Integration and the Ambient Orb™

Every time someone visits our project team, they always ask what the “light” is for. We explain that it reflects the overall health of our source code and that it will flash bright red if something isn't working properly. That's when we get the puzzled look. Then we explain that our entire project is rebuilt from the ground up every 15 minutes, and if something is broken, a call is made out to the Internet that causes a wireless signal to be sent out on the nationwide pager network to the “light” in question. Aside from general disbelief and just short of being called a liar, they inevitably want to know more, and I hope you do to.
