    You'd be surprised how easily this can be done. How can anyone be excited about Vista. Quite possibly one of the potential biggest letdowns in software history. Not to mention everything is a blatent rip-off of OS X. See here for more information.

  • Ben: regarding your comment about everything being a blatant rip-off of OS X, do you think it might be possible that many (if not most) of these features have been under construction for many years? Even prior to OS X?

    And I'm extremely excited about Vista. There are so many enhancements and additions that haven't been covered in-depth, that I think you'll be surprised. Unless I missed them, the post you reference doesn't talk at all about WPF, Windows Live, Xbox 360, Media Center, mobile devices, or digital identity.
  • Your going to trust the company with the worst track history in security with your digital identity. Not me. I'm going to be honest Windows Live is obviously an attempt to save themselves from Google. The Xbox should be interesting. I'm a little dissapointed that they are using standard DVDs. If you read some articles you will find that developers are running out of space. Its good to hear that they are considering external Blue Ray and HD DVD options later on down the road when a standard becomes present. Unlike Windows Live, I do enjoy Xbox Live very much. Its something you can tell had a lot of effort put in too, and not to mention its a lot of fun. Regarding the Media Center, I don't really care to much one way or the other, but I can say they have done a wonderful job with that, and I admit something like that would be nice to have. As for mobile devices they seem to be taking the lead in that field as well, altho I have only heard bad things from the latest Palm. Which is odd.

    If its not obvious by now, I could really care less about MS. They don't suuport standards, instead they claim they create them. They have no innovation, and no real compassion for their customers and the field they are working in. Nothing they are doing is truly great. None of this matters to the rest of the world, because all they see is a Windows logo. Anyways I digress...

    I'm sorry, but I should of said something before hand, but the only reason I came here in the first place is to find some more of your photography. I have downloaded everything you had posted off of Interfacelift and was looking for more! They are really great shots. Sorry if I'm spreading bad karma, but its something I feel stronly about. Plus I'm always up for a good debate. :)

  • Ben: I truly appreciate the respectful feedback and conversation (it's why I like blogging). As a Microsoft employee, I am often frustrated at the way our company is portrayed in the media. I'm not saying that we're perfect, but I am saying that it's not nearly as simple as a lot of stories would lead you to believe.

    Although this may sound surprising, we listen and react to our customers more than a lot of companies I've worked for in my 26+ years in the software industry. As a matter of fact, I work for a group that spends most of its time working with customers who are interested in adopting our technology early. We do this to get real-world feedback from companies that are pushing the envelope precisely because we want to integrate their feedback into the product to make it useful. Do we always listen as well as we could? Perhaps not. But customer satisfaction is one of the biggest performance metrics at Microsoft.

    I'm not trying to convince you to change your mind, but I feel like I should clarify how things are "behind the scenes" at Microsoft. Also, we could both go round-and-round about who has the most secure platform or software, and we'd never reach an agreement. Frankly, *all* software needs to be secure...it only takes a single vulnerability to penetrate a network, regardless of the logo on the software.

    I'm glad you enjoy the wallpaper images. They've become quite popular. :)
