One cool thing is the new touch on-screen keyboard, which is enabled if you have a touch screen. To see it, swipe in from the right side, touch the cog icon

re: RichEdit 8.0 Touch Support

The inconvenient approach you refer to does autonumbering but I've never managed to cross-reference to the equation numbers!

The Office equation editor is a superb piece of software but, without a full autonumbering facility, will never be used in serious scientific book edition.

I keep pushing for it, but program managers claim it isn't as important as other things. Sigh. OneNote 2013 at least let you put equation numbers on the right hand side. But it's not autonumbered. In some previous posts I have described macros that let you have autonumbered equations in Word. The approach is a bit inconvenient, but it does work.

But what about autonumbering facility for math equations? Sorry to be such a pain ... but I'm tired of waiting for such a basic function!
