Serving as Development Chair for OOPSLA gave me lots of opportunities to see the plan for OOPSLA as it was being put together, and I'm really excited to be able to be in Nashville for it.

My schedule for OOPSLA looks like this:

  • attend Rebecca Wirfs-Brock's tutorial "The Art of Telling Your Design Story" on Sunday
  • attend Alistair Cockburn's tutorial "Writing Effective Use Cases for Projects both Agile and Otherwise" on Monday afternoon
  • attend the Welcome Reception on Monday evening, which includes judging the first round of the Student Research Competition
  • attend Mark Lehner's keynote "Social Programming: A Pyramid, and Possibly Other Large Objects" on Tuesday morning
  • listen to Dick Gabriel's essay "Designed as Designer" on Tuesday morning
  • attend Sonali Shah's invited talk "Community-Based Innovation: From Sports Equipment to Software" on Tuesday afternoon
  • chair the Lightning Talks on Tuesday afternoon
  • attend Rebecca Wirfs-Brock's keynote "What Drives Design?" on Wednesday morning
  • chair the second round of the Student Research Competition on Wednesday morning
  • sit on the panel "From Sorceress to Scientist: Women in Computing" on Wednesday afternoon
  • attend the special event Wednesday night

Somewhere in there, I'll probably find time to put together a Birds of a Feather meeting for the women of OOPSLA, as well as for Mac users.
