One of the great stories coming out at the end of last week was the inclusion of Microsoft onto the OpenID Foundation board of directors. This news is that a whole bunch of players have joined: Google, IBM, Microsoft, Verisign and Yahoo joined together.

There are some interesting projects going on, with Microsoft shipping some support through an experimental OpenID provider and there is clearly work by other companies to support the same.

The biggest issue with OpenID is it is very susceptible to "Man in the middle" attacks, and my hope is that there will be work with the OpenID folks and the industry to support this with technologies such as CardSpace, which would solve the problem.
