TradeMe Sale... Media rumble Fairfax v ACP... NZ Website Rankings

Now these guys managed to keep this incredibly quite!

There is a game being played out amongst the big publishing companies and here are some of my observations... Fairfax and ACP Media are going head to head to gain Top ranking web sites in NZ. Just after it was confirmed that ACP Media was leading growth in the magazine market in New Zealand... Fairfax comes out and buys TradeMe.

The ACP portal suite includes - (http://www.autotrader.co.nz, http://www.sellmefree.co.nz (billboard campaign around Auckland), http://www.friendsreunited.co.nz, http://www.findakiwidate.co.nz, http://www.seek.co.nz, http://www.propertypress.co.nz)

The Fairfax portal suite now includes – (http://www.stuff.co.nz and http://www.trademe.co.nz) both in the top 20 sites in New Zealand. ACP’s highest ranking site http://seek.co.nz is also in the top twenty for NZ.

Still you can't look past the shear volume of money that changed hands... as Bruce Simpson comments... "In fact you'd never run out of money -- because if you stuck it in a regular savings account paying just 5% per annum, you'd actually be accruing cash at the rate of $95,000 per DAY."
