Programming for Outlook using managed code is hard. I take that back. Programming for Outlook is relatively easy if you can figure out where to stick your code. Working out the problems you’ll encounter is hard (and I’m still

Review of FranklinCovey's PlanPlus

“Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense.” Gertrude Stein.

To make this all work you need to do the following:

1) makes sure you are referencing the XP PIAs everywhere
2) in the setup project make sure you install the PIAs in the GAC.
3) See my post on registering the assembly and some gotchas there.

re: Programming for Outlook using managed code is hard

Hi,

I've recently finished my CS honours project that has some relation with the work you're doing. I created an intelligent e-mail classifier in Java and imported the source into a J# project. I then created an Outlook plugin using the Shared Add-In wizard in vs.

This all worked great on the development machine but the add-in would not load on any other computer. I used the Office XP PIA's from microsofts website, and short of learning C++ and implementing the shim I don't really know what else to try.

It's not important in terms of the project, but I would really like to get this working for my own peace of mind (its very frustrating spending seven months developing something for it to fail!). I've been googling about for information and Dan Creviers blog was helpful but I'd like to know what else can be tried.

Thanks,

Mike Long

re: Programming for Outlook using managed code is hard

See:

http://blogs.msdn.com/dancre/archive/2004/03/21/93712.aspx
