re: Searching for Notes in OneNote

I like using OneNote very much. But something has to be done about the substring search capability. I think it is absurd that I can't search for text within a note. I should say, it works for some characters but not others, and there appears to be no reason behind any of it. For instance, a search for "b" works but not "i". And special characters are ignored (semicolon, colon, comma, etc). I can work with the silly find-next behavior...but it is frustrating when I can't search for certain text strings. Don't forget the formula for keeping it simple...

I have the same problem as Brain: sometimes OneNote just fails to record an audio. No error message appear (or the like) during recording, but when I try to play it back, it's just silent. According to file size, it looks like it recorded something but I can't play it back with different players and different machines. And I really need to hear it. Please help, anyone?

Did Brian ever figure out how to play the audio files that appear to have no sound, but do infact show a size?

I have several dozen end users the often report the same issue.

In Onenote 2007 you could open section groups as notebooks which really was great. in 2010 - when I go to open the section group it pulls in the entire notebook. Is there a work around?

I wish the Microsoft teams would stop using words like "simple" and "most popular and common". It reinforces why the ribbon (in all MS products, especially onenote) frustratingly are NOT simple. And the features the onenote team think are "most common" are the ones I hardly ever use. PLEASE - for later releases can you PLEASE PLEASE allow the user to modify the size and content in the ribbons?

I'm reverting to 2007 if I can. Too many click in 2010, thus delaying my presentations.

Yes, more subpages please. And, how about you let the page tabs take on the color that you assign to the page (rather than the color of the notebook tab)--the background "beneath" the page tabs would still be the color of the notebook tab.

Dan, To get multiple sounds recorded and myself I use and enable the Stereo Mix in the sound properties that may be hidden. go to sounds, recording and in the blank area right click on un-hide disable devices. I use this feature to pick up my sound from the mic and other peoples voices from my pc like from skype or conference calling. It may or may not work with Onenote but you can give it a try.

Works fine, just make sure if you match 32 or 64 template manager to your office version (32 or 64)

Have all the problems above been fixed. I'm running One Note 2010 on Win8, but don't want to install anything that's not going to work.
