I wanted to share some news about a position I’ve been appointed to at Microsoft.

I have been appointed to the role of  Business Group Lead to for the Information Worker (IW) business in Australia – a significant new role for me, and one which I’m very excited about moving into on the 3rd November 2008.

I want to acknowledge the long term leadership of the Information Worker Team by Tony Wilkinson. Tony has created a strong and balanced business and team.

Looking back on the last 5 years, if you placed all the copies of Office we have sold in Australia it would reach from Melbourne to the Cape York Peninsula (approx 4,000km).

As we grow this business in the next 5 years, we need a broadband network pipe to reach the moon and back three times (approx. 300,000km)  to make the transition to our software + services business model.

I wanted to use this opportunity to introduce the Information Worker team

• Rita Alexandrou focused on our Small and Medium sized customers & the IW Partners that serve them around the Office System, SharePoint & Groove
• Belinda Varriale assisting each member of the team on major campaigns and initiatives
• Harold Melnick growing our presence in Unified Communications
• Jeff Fisher ensuring our online customer experience is seamless
• Robin Young  focused on our enterprise customers business  including the Office System, SharePoint & Groove
• Steve Johns growing our long term Office System business with our retail partners
• Sophie Small driving our Project and Visio business

It’s a great time to return to the Information Worker business and focus on “Collaboration for your growth” – growth for our customers business, growth for our partners business and growth of the people in the Information Worker Community.
