I just read Randall Kennedy's blog post "Why I'm glad I don't work for Microsoft" and could not stop myself from thinking that I actually DO LOVE working for Microsoft.
Yes, the "Rockin' Our Sales" video is cheesy, yes we are aware about what is being said about both Vista and SP1, no we don't live in a vacuum. We do many good things, we do many mistakes, just like anybody else. I like to believe we do more good things than mistakes, but that is not for me to judge.
So, why am I actually really glad I work for Microsoft? First of all, Microsoft is a great employer. Even without looking at all surveys (Sunday Times, CNN) and statistics that show that, I can actually say that after working in and with a number of small, medium and large enterprises worldwide I have never found such a team of extremely talented people, an environment where individuals are valued and encouraged to contribute, where managers do care about their employees well being.
I keep telling people that since I joined the company about 2 years ago I feel like a boy in a toy store. After a while you see that a couple of the toys are not perfect, that there is some dust in some corners but.... still it is a great place to be and I'm not sure I would enjoy anymore working in a place where I would not find the same things.
So.... Randall I fully agree that the video is not the best ever but.... I still DO LOVE working here.
