For 21 years, Microsoft Latin America has operated in a progressive, fast-growing region of 46 countries and territories served by seven subsidiaries: Argentina/Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Multi Country America’s Caribbean, Central America + 3 South American countries) and Venezuela.
The region's increasing economic and political stability has helped LATAM achieve double-digit revenue growth across all business groups, segments, sectors, and geography. We have been so successful that LATAM first hit, then surpassed, our $1 billion target in May 2007, one year earlier than originally planned. With Brazil’s additional position as an emerging markets leader, space and Mexico as a large contributor to our growth plans, we are well poised for another strong fiscal year and look forward to making even more of an impact for Microsoft on the world stage.
As part of our World Wide Sales, Marketing and Services Group, the Customer Services and Support (CSS) organization in Latin America joins our Enterprise & Partner Group (EPG), Developer/Platform Evangelism (DPE), our Small and Midmarket Solutions group (SMS &P) and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) to provide customers and business clients with the best Microsoft has to offer.
The CSS Premier Field Engineering (PFE) team in Latin America consists of nearly 60 employees falling into both Dedicated (devoted to one client for a duration) and Transactional (quick impact resources who work with multiple clients) Support Engineering roles. With 4 regional managers and a strong corporate team supporting them this group provides clients with the highest level of onsite technical support possible in areas such as Development, Platforms, SharePoint, Infrastructure, Security and Messaging.
The PFE LATAM team is also very focused on giving back and two initiatives have stood out this year. First, the EMEA PFE organization visited various schools in rural Madagascar with the Founder of Computer Aid (www.computeraid.org the world’s largest non-profit supplier of refurbished computers to developing countries) to help distribute and deploy computers in multiple locations in Madagascar. The Microsoft team assisted in training teachers on how to configure computers and add critical MS software and put in place a sustainable management system. To support this effort, the PFE team in Chile planned the Chile Cycle Challenge - a 375km trip across breathtaking views of the Andes with each cyclist taking a goal of raising $3900 USD for the cause.
In Brazil the non-profitable Organization NABEM ( Nucleo Assistencial Bezerra de Menezes) provides social and emotional support to communities in need. Their mission is to promote the appreciation and development of people through social assistance. They have just started a computer class for senior citizens and teenagers, with the objective of using IT as a tool to promote social inclusion. PFE Latin America, in partnership with Microsoft Brazil has enabled the donation of MS Windows, MS Office and MS Project licenses to NABEM.
