Talk about an embarrassment of riches. Our panel of judges had a blast watching nearly 6 hours of fantastic Power BI demos videos with some tough calls as criteria was reviewed, boxes were checked, and content was considered to narrow down the 15 semi-finalist videos to just five finalists.

Give a high 5 to the top 5

Now the moment you have all been waiting for <drumroll>…

Congratulations to the Power BI Demo Contest Finalists:

In addition to the semi-finalist prize, these finalists will receive a Surface Pro 2 and a free pass to the PASS Business Analytics Conference May 7-9, 2014 in San Jose.  The Grand Prize judging round will be conducted by Amir Netz, Kamal Hathi and Quentin Clark (click on 'Judges" link here for bios), and the winner will be announced prior to April 30, 2014.

We would like to thank each of our participants for all of their hard work and enthusiasm.  Stay tuned for the big reveal of the Grand Prize winner, coming soon!

  • Hopefully, you will encourage all of the contest participants to share their workbooks via this website that they used to create the demos for this contest. Otherwise, the BI community gains very little benefit from all of their hard work.

  • I cannot watch three of them on my tablet because of the Flash player.Anyway, others are fantastic

  • Fantastic all five deserve something greater than what you have offered. Bill gates will be ashamed.

  • Congratulations to #PowerBi contest finalists.

  • Hi Microsoft BI, i'm sending you this message to ask if we have to do something to receive the semi-finalist and finalist prizes?

I din't receive any notification from Microsoft yet. Is it supposed to send any message to Microsoft so you can receive information about any personal data like my address?

Sorry to ask, but i really don't know how the reception of the prizes occur. In fact, the final prizes is confusing me a little bit. If the first prize will only be announced in 30th of April, how can the winner have time to travel to the US? And is the fly already marked by Microsoft? How this question works?

I would really like to know more about this questions, because I'm a student, and I'm kinda new to this  It's really an honor to be part of this contest

    Thank you Microsoft,

    Carlos Costa

  • I'll echo Carlos' comment. I haven't received any sort of communication from Microsoft about this.

  • Amazing! Thank you for the opportunity to showcase our efforts with Power BI, Microsoft. :)
