After delivering the Thanksgiving Gift this year, it’s time for a Holiday Gift …. No not as big as the one we had about 3 years ago …!!

Today, we published the “Getting Started with Windows PowerShell Workflow” document on the CTP2 download page, just look for “WMF3 CTP2 Windows PowerShell Workflow.pdf”. This will help you get started with the
newest addition to PowerShell functionality – Windows PowerShell Workflow.

Please continue to provide your feedback via PowerShell Connect so we can receive customer input in a timely manner.

  • Great job, guys! That's fantastic!

  • I tell everyone I know to not upgrade to anything later than PowerShell 3.0 as it requires you to upgrade your OS too. Please do not treat your OSes in mainstream support this way.

  • I'm getting an error just by trying to evaluate an empty workflow:

    Cannot create workflow. The type 'Microsoft.PowerShell.Workflow.WorkflowJobConverter, Microsoft.PowerShell.Activities' from the 'PSWork

    flow' module could not be loaded.

    At C:\Users\Staffan\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\slask.ps1:1 char:1

    + workflow foo {

    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

       + CategoryInfo          : OperationStopped: (:) [], NotSupportedException

       + FullyQualifiedErrorId : System.NotSupportedException

    Am I missing something?

  • Please support Windows Vista SP2 as it is in mainstream support. (And do not moderate this comment as I am not saying anything abusive - even the Windows 8 blog doesn't moderate comments).

  • Thank you - this is indeed a useful gift for Christmas.

    I am still waiting for a real world example for a PowerShell workflow.

  • @Vista and @xpclient: I assume v3 will follow how v2 was handled.  v2 was only made available for the latest released OS versions while in CTP, then shortly before the public release a v3 beta was made available for older OSs.  Finally, after v2 released, a v2 final download was available for older OSs a short time after.  So that being said, you are likely looking at another 3-6 months before you see a v3 beta version for Vista and Server 2008.

  • How do I get mapped drive instead of full UNC path when running Get-ChildItem (dir) on a mapped drive?
