I recently went to a talk about how to improve performance of your website. In this post I am going to share out the lessons I learnt while applying some of the best practices to my personal photo view application. The high level points I will be mentioning are not tied to web programing languages such as php, asp.net etc but more around javacript/css optimizations for the browser. In the end I will highlight some tools that I used for this exercise
When you make a request to the webpage in the browser following is what happens
Quite a lot of activities happening right? Lets build on this overall flow and see how can we optimize our site’s performance for each step
This is critical to make sure the browser does the parsing of html, javasccript and css efficiently
Hopefully you find this useful…
Why using EmulateIE7 and not IE9 in http header?
Perhaps I missed that, but you forgot to mention IE Developer Toolbar (F12) in tools section.
