Where did you guys learn this stuff?

I need to get up to speed pretty quick and learn how to parse into elements of a Microsoft Word 2003 or 2007 XML document, but I am having one heck of a time getting started because all of the technology seems to have moved on and changed so fast.

Help is appreciated (using the website link, if you want to contact me).

2) Is it possible to modify the tints / shades that are given in the Theme colur palette??

I have been searching high and low to find whether ServerDocument.AddCustomization() does actually opens an instance of Word on web server, but after reading quite a few posts, it does seem to be.

However, I have posted this question on MSDN (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsto/thread/1e009a3e-344d-417b-9f35-bcc2f22ded7f), and the reply I have was that it doesn't, so who is right and who is wrong? I've done 90% of my project and now coming across a lot issues with permission, etc.
