The PSS SQL team is joining the ranks of bloggers. You will see contributions on this blog from time to time from various members of the Microsoft PSS SQL team mostly from the Escalation Services staff.

We plan to focus this blog on two main types of information:

  • Troubleshooting tips we want the community to know about that perhaps are not getting documented in the SQL Server Books Online documentation or Knowledge Base articles (or we may elaborate more on something documented in these sources). For example, we might post a brief example of a troubleshooting method we used to solve an important customer case but just haven't turned into official KB documentation
  • Let you know about important resources, tools, software, events, or content that affect your ability to service and support SQL Server in your environment. For example, we may create a posting talking about an important SQL Server hotfix available for download or possible "gotchas" to consider when applying a service pack.

 This blog is not a method to get technical support from Microsoft. We of course want your comments and opinions but if you have an urgent or critical problem with SQL Server, you seek help from Microsoft PSS through normal support channels. You can find all the information about how to contact PSS at http://support.microsoft.com.

I will say that one of the goals of this blog is to promote self-help. We want the community to solve more issues on their own without having to contact PSS. This blog is just one part of the effort to empower customers to resolve their own problems.

We look forward to sharing ideas and hearing your opinions about troubleshooting and supportability of the SQL Server product line.
