I work for Disney and finally got around to reading the internal numbers for this movie. It broke a couple records.

What's interesting is a great number of theaters had extra reels and where therefore able to take over more screens in their theaters for the weekend evening showings.

My local theater in the Puget Sound area put cancelled Click and some other movie to make more room for Pirates.

I thought about this and there must have been some sort of widespread distribution effort to give theaters extra reels and encourage them to use them to deal with demand.

If that is the case then it is an interesting strategy to increase you box office numbers.

I hope it is a trend that continues . . . it is nice to show up on an opening weekend night for a major release and get a good seat without camping in line for an hour.

This movie has gotta break box office records.. I went to see it Saturday night and it was sold out at Bella Bottega for the entire afternoon. I went down town to the AMC Pacific Place and got into the 11:30 showing, also sold out. The 12:30a showing was again sold out. Great movie, I bet it made $150m this weekend.

I collect soundtracks. Hans Zimmer is absolutely brilliant, amazing and versatile. Yet to check out this one. Just as I write this I am listening to the Gladiator soundtrack....
