One of the trends that we see is the use of RSS for more than blogs and news. As the mash-up trend shows, it is becoming a mechansim for allowing applications to exchange data. In order to make it easier to build applications which leverage RSS, we are incorporating it into the Windows Platform.
One of the coolest RSS related topics is simple list extensions. This allows the tagging of data within the RSS feed. IE7 supports simple list extensions in its feed view. Amazon.com wishlists are an example of an RSS feed which has incorporated the new extensions. If you view the previous link in IE7 you will notice you have much richer information and activities (like the "Add to Cart" image button) available to you than the RSS feeds you have seen before.
