Greetings from the Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft! We appreciate the interest many of you have shown about the new RDC client for Mac. As announced on Mac Mojo blog a couple of weeks ago,  we released a public beta version of Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) Client for Mac 2.0 on Tuesday July 31st. RDC for Mac lets you connect to a Microsoft Windows-based computer and work with programs and files on that computer from your Macintosh computer. The 2.0 Beta includes the following new features:

  • Universal Binary
Runs natively on both Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macs.
  • Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0
Provides better compatibility with Windows Vista, improved security features, and many other improvements.
  • Multiple Sessions
Lets you connect to multiple Windows-based computers at the same time.
  • Improved User Experience
Provides a true Mac experience and improved usability.
  • Improved Customization Options
Lets you change application preferences, including keyboard shortcuts, while you are running a session. Changes take effect the next time that you connect.
  • Dynamic Screen Resizing
Lets you resize your session window or switch to full-screen mode during a session.
  • Improved Printing Support
Supports all configured printers on your Mac. No longer limited to PostScript printers.

Currently, RDC for Mac 2.0 (Beta) is only available in English, and supports only US English keyboards. Technical support is not available for this beta release.

  • Please add RD Gateway support for Mac RDP Client!!!

  • Please add RD Gateway support for Mac RDP Client!!!

  • It would be wonderful if there was support for TS/RD Gateway on the Microsoft supplied RDP client for Mac.  I would be happy if CoRD or rdesktop supported it instead, but....

  • Please add TS Gateway support for Mac client.  It is shameful that it has taken so long to provide this capability.

  • TS Gateway and TS RemoteApp support for Macs would be a *huge* boon to us! We've got schools running Windows servers but who have Macs as clients, they would *kill* for the ability to do this on the Macs.

Please add TS Gateway and Remoteapp support, guys!

  • When will TS Gateway support be availiable for Mac?

  • Please, Please add RDP Gateway Support.

  • i use VMware fusion on my mac to run windows 7

then through windows 7 i have to use remote desktop to connect for work

its a pain in the ass!

we need TS gateway for mac!

  • WE NEED TS GATEWAY FOR THE MAC PLEASE MICROSOFT!

  • We need TS Gateway support for the Mac client as soon as possible!

  • Request to add the ability to specify a Remote Gateway in the RDP client so Mac clients can access a Remote Desktop Services farm enviroment?

  • I am baffled why there is no response from MS regarding the addition of TS Gateway (now Remote Desktop Gateway in R2) support to the Mac client.  I am even more surprised at the fact that they released an update to the RDC client with Office 2011 (now RDC 2.1) and it *still* doesn't support RD Gateway despite an obvious need for it in the user community.

Please add this feature in ASAP.  I hate having to leave a PPTP port open on the VPN server *just for our users with Macs*.

  • The Mac client really needs TS Gateway support and RDP 7

  • Please add RD Gateway support for Mac RDP Client!!!

  • I too would really like to see TS Gateway/Remote Desktop Gateway support as well. I am using the Gateway to redirect people to their own desktops and not a Terminal server so I don't have any other options of getting Mac users connected at this point without setting up VPN access which is a lot of extra work for 5% of my users
