    Still doesn't cover x64 NT5.x OSes (XP x64, Server 2003 x64).

  • In addition, installing the XP x86 RDP 7.0 client on Server 2003 x86 in XP Compatibility mode results in it bombing out on the Service Pack check, as XP is on SP3 and Server 2003 is on SP2.

So...still no official RDP on Server 2003 beyond 6.0 (6.1 works with an XP compatibliity mode install) and no RDP 6.1 or 7.0 on Server 2003 x64 or XP x64.

  • Is there any support available or planned for network level authentification on whs so I can remote to win7 workstations?

  • I need 6.1 for windows 2003 r2 sp2.  The reason I need this is that 6.0 will not read hashed passwords saved in the rdp file.  We need to use this on our Citrix Servers to pass the authentication.  Works awesome with 6.1.

  • My company uses RDP to connect to a major supplier. They're heading towards Windows Server 2008 TS after being on Windows 2000 Server TS and are recommending the Easy Print funtion. Unless there is another method to use the Easy Print function without RDP 6.1 please let me know, otherwise, it's a wonder people tend to hack windows.

  • Where can I found the RDC 6.1 for Windows Vista SP1 or SP2. I have read thread saying that RDC 6.1 is automatically upgraded or installed in Windows Vista SP1 or there is already available in this OS. Is this true? However, when I installed Patch of Windows Vista SP1, it did not automatically upgrade the RDC to 6.1, and my RDC is only 6.0. I hope anyone could help me. Thanks!

  • How about Terminal Services?  We have RDP sessions published in Citrix/Terminal Servers for users to access RDP hosts via Citrix.  In some cases the use of ICA/HDX provides a benefit over the WAN to RDP, and this also allows our remote support people to get to internal servers via a secure Citrix connection.  We also have SCCM published on Citrix - the RDP function from these servers fails also.

Terminal Server IS a client OS.

Also - where is the official Microsoft position on why RDC 6.1 is not available for 2003 Server?

  • I have come across a strange problem. RDP 6.1 connects fine when I try from local administrator login, but it crashes when I login with a Domain Admin id. For that matter, any domain id I login and try to connect, it crashes. Can anyone suggest what could be the problem?

  • Here is a business case for why the 6.1 client should be officially supported on 2003 server. When presenting published applications within a Citrix environment on a 2003 server, the 6.1 client offers 32-bit color. User experience is affected by the limitation of 24-bit color in earlier clients.
