At first blush, Tom’s Hardware has got what appears to be some pretty yellow journalism on the subject of a new IBM patent, but I don’t think that they are actually misinterpreting the patented process which describes programmatically degrading the quality of digital documents. On purpose. Huh.
It’s not much of a stretch to apply such algorithms to databases... which makes my inner DBA cry.
