CRN has an interesting article on changes to the UI programming model in Longhorn. The article describes the displacement of GDI with a new framework that supports XAML, or XML Application Markup Language (sounds redundant). Apparently this will enable you to define UI code by modifying predefined XML files. This sounds very ambitious. Does anyone know anything about this? What's not clear to me is how GDI fits in going forward. Also, the only XAML that I had heard of previously was the one referenced here.
