For years now Google has owned internet searches. Except for a few radicals, everyone has embraced Google. A News.com article today talks about how Microsoft is making a move in the search arena. I'm pleased to see this, because I see Google getting complacent. They have considered the filtration of weblogs (since denounced but only under pressure it would seem), have focused more effort on the placement of "paid for" search results, and have failed to effectively combat the "googlebombs" that tend to skew results in favor of spammers and internet advertisers. Micrsoft jumping into the fray should cause Google to refocus their efforts on maintaining search supremacy. If so, it should be a win for web users.
