Thurrott writes that despite earlier claims from Microsoft, there will be a Longhorn Server product. I think Microsoft is making a mistake here in one respect- they should not be stating their plans for the Windows product line so early as they have over the past year with respect to staggering the client and server versions of Windows. It is confusing to people, and the forecast never ends up being right anyway. For those in IT, the information really isn't useful. Who are they trying to convince of these plans, the industry pundits or market analysts?
