I gave up on theSpoke.net after about a week.  I didn't post much there, but I watched what was going on and decided that I agree with some of the recent comments about weblog communities.  Too many of them are unfocused and don't end up leading to any decent conversations.  I've seen a number of exceptions here, and I do like what LonghornBlogs is doing, but ultimately I think the community-focused blogs are still only a small part of the blogging picture.  Individual blogs will continue to be the major influence in the blogging community, largely based on the high profile of some of the bloggers.  The blogs that are attracting thousands of readers a day are the ones really shaping this community.
