&lt;p&gt;@Barry: I agree with that, but you also need to find the right balance between duplicating production and monitoring it - sometimes it is not possible to duplicate production environment even if you duplicate the traffic.&lt;/p&gt;

Unfortunately no amount of running scripts can compensate for testing with live traffic. Parallel Proxy (&lt;a rel="nofollow" target="_new" href="http://www.parallelproxy.com"&gt;http://www.parallelproxy.com&lt;/a&gt;) allows you to duplicate production traffic to test servers and compare responses.&lt;/p&gt;
