"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching." - Satchel Paige
I've had a lot of false starts when it comes to blogging. I think this blog marks my fifth or sixth attempt since 2002. Why such a lousy batting record? Well, for one, I'm a professional writer that has trouble writing. That sounds rather lame, doesn't it? Fortunately, the writing I do for a living is technical writing, which means I need not schedule an appointment with Mnemosyne or any of her daughters for creative inspiration. Instead, I schedule time with program mangers, developers, testers and the like. That's not to say I think technical writing is uninspired. I just don't want to compare what I do to the likes of truly creative authors, such as Gregory Maguire (btw, his brother, Joe, happened to be my officemate a few years back for a few months. Although he subsequently left Microsoft, I don't think it was because of that experience. I hope.). Anyway, I think the crux of my problem is that I have a bad habit of self-editing myself into writing paralysis. So, I've decided I'm going to blog like nobody's reading, which is probably not too far from the truth.
