Keith Rowe (Product Unit Manager for the Project Management Tools in Visual Studio Team System) provides some insight on the usability testing that was conducted last week in Redmond.

Usability testing - lessons learned

One of the great things about developing products at Microsoft is the access to great tools. Usability testing is one of my favorite. Last week, the VSTS team ran a weeklong series of usability tests across the whole product to see what happens when you put regular joes (and janes) in front of the new VS Team System.

If you want to get involved with Usability Research studies at Microsoft, check out this site:

Microsoft Usability Enrollment

While most of this research revolves around Lab Studies or Focus Groups conducted on our main campus in Redmond, WA (U.S.A.), we also conduct on-line surveys and Field Studies for individuals who reside outside of this region.

If you live in California, product evaluations and usability research are also conducted in our Mountain View campus facilities. Follow this link to enroll if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

There's even a need for gamers (PC and XBOX):

Playtest Form
If you're a hard-core gamer, or simply enjoy games and want to participate in a gaming or gaming hardware related study, this form is for you!
