I am Microsoftie 4 ever (18+ years) working in Windows Services and Content team in the UK, my blog is mainly focused on the Windows family of products and trying to provide help pointers and resources for customers on our products.
Did you know that it was Get Safe Online Week this week? Microsoft is one of the founding partners int his scheme backed by the Government, HSBC, SOCA, C&W, Symantec and PayPal.
The Get Safe Online web site has lots of useful information about how to stay safe online including:
We also on the Windows Help and How-to site have an entire section devoted to Security topics http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-GB/security.mspx covering everything from the basics, to network security, Windows Firewall and user accounts.
I saw the GOW 2 trailer at the cinema earlier this week when i went to see Quantum of Solace (which was ok, but kind of left me with a feeling of missing something, like an ending!!)
The trailer was amazing in the cinema and the sound just incredible, almost tempted to upgrade my old trustworthy original Xbox.

However I do like the look of the Explorer Mini Mouse, I may have to order one, and as Aubrey says ‘I’m a sucker for things that emit blue light…’ (thanks for the spot too)
Find out more about BlueTrack at http://www.microsoft.com/uk/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/bluetrack/default.aspx

Really like this new initiative from Amazon, not only from the ecological side of things but from the Wrap rage that I am sure you will all have encountered with stuff you buy.
I love the idea of the UGC (User generated Content) element to the campaign www.amazon.com/frustration although it is a pity there is no way for me to embed the videos on this blog. The share functionality seems to be just a an email link, come on Amazon let it go Viral, or maybe I am just missing something… http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/m1THTXLYALTON1
Almost unbelievably we actually have some content on Windows Help and How-to about how to open the Windows Vista box so if you get stuck you know how to get in now. Looking at the stats it gets a reasonable amount of traffic as well!
In my never ending quest for all sites to help with Vista I came across this recent article by PCmag.com by Jennifer L. DeLeo
198 Windows Vista Tips & Tricks - Solutions by PC Magazine
it takes a while to go through them all as they are spread over several pages and most are just small short snippet such as the Boost Compatibility tip.
I have always been reasonably agnostic about the Google logo, never loving or hating it, I like the smart things they do with the Google Doodles. But have just read the following article The Israeli woman behind the Google logo and it is worth a quick read if you don’t know the history. Ruth Kedar is the lady behind the logo..
‘There are two reasons why the Google logo looks so simple: First, it is based on an earlier sketch Brin designed using the free design program GIMP; second, was the designer's decision to create something simple, catchy and user-friendly.’
‘It somewhat amuses me to turn on the computer and look at the logo I designed. But it also fills me with pride," she said. "When you say Google to people today, they immediately see the colorful logo.’

So this humorous little story has been doing the rounds here in the UK, what do you think the welsh translation reads?
Well nothing to do with heavy good vehicles that's for sure, it actually reads
"I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated".
