I am Microsoftie 4 ever (18+ years) working in Windows Services and Content team in the UK, my blog is mainly focused on the Windows family of products and trying to provide help pointers and resources for customers on our products.
Following on from the previous announcement about Get Windows 7 for £30 in the UK – Student Offer well the site is now live at http://www.ultimatesteal.co.uk and not only can you get Windows 7 Home Premium / Windows 7 Professional for £30 but also get Office Ultimate 2007 if you are a qualifying student for £38.95*.
Pretty sweet deals on both of those.

Spotted this great video on the Microsoft Windows UI Automation Blog, if you are at all interested in accessibility topics and Windows 7 then this might be of interest, and it is great to see Microsoft's commitment to accessible and assistive technologies
“Take a look at our latest video on Windows 7 accessibility and how interoperability plays a key role in achieving digital inclusion through both Assistive Technology (AT) and Information Technology (IT). You can see how Microsoft enables users to connect with third-party Assistive Technology products like open source or other commercially available AT products to enhance their computing experience. Did you know that Windows 7 includes an application programming interface called UI Automation (UIA)? This new accessibility framework for the Windows® operating system improves the way the operating system and Windows applications expose information to assistive technologies. UIA was released via the Community Promise to allow anyone to incorporate it into their solutions, making this a fully interoperable interface compatible with platforms other than Windows.”

Video: Phoenix Instant Boot BIOS starts loading Windows in under a second – via Engadget
“Phoenix is showing off a few interesting things at IDF, but the real standout is their new Instant Boot BIOS, a highly optimized UEFI implementation that can start loading an OS in just under a second. Combined with Windows 7's optimized startup procedure, that means you're looking at incredibly short boot times -- we saw a retrofitted Dell Adamo hit the Windows desktop in 20 seconds, while a Lenovo T400s with a fast SSD got there in under 10. It's pretty slick stuff, and it should be out soon..”

There was some talk on an internal email list about this and i spotted this blog posting by Ian Dixon Internet TV for Windows Media Center available in the UK - Ian Dixon's Blog - The Digital Lifestyle.com
“At last Internet TV Beta 2 for Windows 7 Media Center is available in the UK and it has content! Remember the MSN UK Video services that was launched a couple of months ago? Well all that content is available in Windows Media Center, the plug in well designed and there is a lot of full TV shows available for streaming. There is also music videos, news, sport and a movie section that includes reviews and trailers. The video quality looks quiet good on my laptop but I have not tried it on my TV yet, I am not sure how well it will work on Extenders yet but I will give it a try tonight. There are the inevitable commercials before each video but that is to be expected It looks like a good start and its great to see the UK get some content for a change, you get the update when you open Media Center in the RTM version of Windows 7”
