Master your devices with Device Stage

    Posted over 3 years ago

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the Windows 7 Device Stage Silverlight demo, well now we have a great article to go with it by John Swenson one of writers:

Master your devices with Device Stage

“You don’t have to be a gadget geek to know that it can be hard to get a mobile phone, music player, or other device to work smoothly with your computer. How do you sync contacts and appointments to your mobile phone? How do you get music onto your portable music player? Where do you find the manual for your device, software updates, and help? The list can go on and on, depending on the device.

Enter Device Stage. This new feature in Windows 7 solves these problems by gathering everything you can do with your device into a single window, making tasks easier to find and complete.

Device Stage is like a home page for select compatible devices and printers. It’s a simpler and faster way of finding and using your devices with Windows”

    Device Stage

    read more about Device Stage:

    • Sync music, pictures, contacts, and calendars with a mobile device
    • Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware
    • Create and assign a ringtone for your mobile phone using Device Stage

If like me you got caught caught up in all the travel chaos of the last few weeks you may have missed the information about this interesting looking Springboard Series Virtual Roundtable event about deploying Windows 7…

“On April 29th, join Microsoft Technical Fellow, Mark Russinovich, as he will be leading a discussion around the process of planning, testing, assessing and rolling out Windows 7 in an enterprise organization.

Mark will be joined by a panel of IT professionals who are currently in the piloting and deployment process, along with Microsoft subject matter experts who can speak in depth about the technologies. The event will be broadcast live over the web at 9:00 am PDT, and will be available for on-demand viewing following the broadcast. The discussion will be open and candid, with the panel sharing insights, dispelling myths and getting down to the real story around technical adoption of Windows technologies. Specific topics will include the role of the pilot and the critical information it provides, best practices and tips & tricks for ensuring a successful effort, tools and technologies that will help automate the pilot and deployment processes, and conducting a frank post-pilot assessment.
