How to retrieve files from the Windows.old folder

“If you choose not to keep your files when you upgrade to Windows 8, your files will be temporarily saved to the windows.old folder (unless you formatted your hard drive before installing). If you decide you want some or all of these files back, you can still retrieve them…”

By Either running the Recover personal files troubleshooter

Recover personal files troubleshooter.

or by following the manually instructions at: How to retrieve files from the Windows.old folder

I used the Recover personal files troubleshooter tool and I get the next message:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    User account already recovered

The personal files for the user account <AccountName> have already been recovered. Please select another user account.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there any way to mark that user account in the Windows.old folder as not recovered so I can use the tool?
