One of the sample applications we've been showing in the Developer Track at the Windows Vista / Office 2007 Launch events is the DinnerNow sample. Of course, with the limited time, we can only show the highlights of this great sample application. But, the coolest thing about this sample is your ability to download the entire application, with source code!

So what is DinnerNow? From the home page, "a fictitious marketplace where customers can order food from local restaurants for delivery to their home or office. This sample is designed to demonstrate how you can develop a connected application using several new Microsoft technologies."

So what technologies are used in this sample application? Here's a list:

  • IIS7
  • ASP.NET Ajax Extensions
  • Linq
  • Windows Communication Foundation
  • Windows Workflow Foundation
  • Windows Presentation Foundation
  • Windows CardSpace
  • Windows Powershell
  • .NET Compact Framework

It also includes a SideBar gadget and a mobile application for the delivery drivers. So for those of you wondering how to utilize these new technologies together in your architecture, this is a great reference!
