For those who dont know, it is not supported to geographically disperse a SharePoint farm. All SharePoint machines and SQL components need to live in the same datacenter. (There are exceptions to this, but you need to have LAN speeds over your WAN) ...

It is not supported to restore the SharePoint configuration database. (This does not mean you can't change a database server for a farm. Think of this as more of you cannot restore an backup over the production copy) http://support.microsoft.com/?id=948725

I often get asked if it's possible to prevent users from editing sites with FrontPage 2003 (for v2/2003) and SharePoint Designer (v3/2007). Yes, this is possible. Unfortunately, you have to do it at a Site Definition level. So, it's either all or nothing...
