Yesterday we held the NZ finals for the Imagine Cup - a global Microsoft technology competition where students are asked to create a technology solution around the theme of "imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment".
Sixteen teams were whittled down to four at the NZ heats earlier this year and on Friday the four finalists delivered their pitch to see who would represent New Zealand at the finals in July, to be held in Paris.
And the winner is.....Canterbury University's Team Phoenix with their TaxiBus solution.
It was an incredibly difficult decision for the four industry representative judges to decide a winner from amongst the four finalists.
For my part I was so impressed with how each of the teams presented their work, the obvious passion and dedication they've shown over the last six months or so - and most of all that there is a huge pool of talent who will be contributing to the knowledge economy in the near future, both in NZ and globally.
The future really is, in good hands.
